A: Clearance is the permitted radial/axial play between races. C3 is a clearance greater than standard (CN), for applications with high running temperature, interference fit on the inner ring, or high speed—it compensates thermal expansion and avoids seizure. Use CN for normal ambient light duty, C3 for motors and dryers, C4 for extreme heat or tight fits.
