Bearing Technical FAQ

Q: What is the difference between NU and N cylindrical roller bearings?

A: The NU type has no inner-ring flange (outer ring double-flanged) allowing axial float of the shaft—used on the floating end. The N type has no outer-ring flange, allowing the housing to float. Both carry heavy radial loads at high speed but no axial force; pair them with an axially-locating bearing (e.g., angular contact ball).
